"We've all dropped down hard to our knees ... " I've been feeling like this about my country lately.I'd never heard of Will Kimbrough before but I found this song recently and fell in love with it. I adore songs about disgruntled Americans (to wit; "Born in the U.S.A."). They always resonate with me. I think it's because I don't see this as a country that started perfect and spiraled to dystopia – quite the contrary.
Ours is a nation that has had to struggle for every ounce of freedom gained and it was not all earned at once. Americans have had to fight just as hard against domestic enemies as we have foreign ones.
But usually the domestic bastards are wearing ties ...
