This is one of my all-time favorite songs. I remember when my mom brought the "Graceland" CD home. It was right after we got our first CD player. We only had three albums. I listened to every song by Paul Simon over and over again.
On my knees, 10-years-old, scrubbing the kitchen floor and singing "and I say losing love is like a window to your heart, everybody sees you blown apart" at the top of my lungs. I didn't even know what those words mean.
I do now.
And it's funny to listen to this song of heartbreak and restlessness as a man – it's not just a catchy tune anymore. I guess a good song can speak to you at any age.
