This police report from last October chronicles one young woman's REALLY bad night.
First, a woman on the street calls the police and tells them that she saw a young woman fall and hit her head and then saw some men pick her up and carry her into a frat on Greek Row.
(*Note: You can click on the image for a larger, more readable version.)An officer shows up and finds the girl lying unconscious on a couch in the living room of the frat. The cop speaks with a young man who says he found the woman on the floor of their third floor bathroom. The man says he called women's transit to come pick her up.
No one at the party can tell the officer her name and she doesn't have ID.
The cop asks how much she's had to drink. No one knows.

He writes in his report that that he noticed a list of fraternity members who had door guard duty near the front of the house. He asks the people at the party how it was that the woman entered the house so obviously drunk, made her way to the third floor and passed out on the bathroom floor without being noticed.
He tells them he thinks they gave her alcohol. But since he can't prove it he only takes the girl into protective custody.
Because she didn't have any ID the officer couldn't tell exactly how old she was but he is later informed that she was only 17. Her parents were out of the country but the hospital called them and they were not happy campers about the whole ordeal.
This report serves as a warning to women everywhere. At no point was this girl ever really an active part of her experience. She was passed out the entire time. Completely at the mercy of whoever was "taking care of her."If that woman wouldn't have seen the girl being carried into the frat, if the frat members wouldn't have tried to call women's transit for her, and if the cop wouldn't have found her and taken her to the hospital something bad could have easily happened.
Please be careful, watch your drinks and don't let yourself get too drunk.

That is terrible! Drinking has to be definitely accompanied by responsibility. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteyou never ever want to be "taken care of" by a fraternity.
ReplyDeleteThat's really scary...it makes me wonder about what may have happened before they found her (drugged perhaps?). Yikes!
