For my first TMI Thursday post I decided to divulge my crush on U.S. Ski Team champ, Olympian and Minnesotan goddess of the slopes, Lindsey Vonn.She's the fastest woman in the world on skis and she's gonna prove it in Vancouver.
The girl's got grit.
In 2006, during the Salt Lake games, she crashed in training and had to be airlifted and hospitalized. The next day she returned to Utah and raced – with injuries. Her tenacious will to compete was recognized by the fans and other athletes at the games and she was given the Olympic Spirit Award that year. Even today she's recovering from a crash in Austria on Feb. 2 that has kept her off skis until now. She tweeted about it this morning, remarking that training is painful.
And the games start tomorrow!
She crashes, and then she gets back up and skis. I really hope that she'll be in condition and that racing isn't too painful because I really want to see her win.
But I'm also crushing on Vonn because she's a stone cold fox. See?
Told ya. She is married however. With kind of throws a wrench in my plan to settle down in a Swiss mountain villa and raise a bunch Nordic-looking baby ski champs with her.I kid. I've always been a fool for female athletes. I mean in high school Mia Hamm was to me what Bo Derrick was to men in the '70s.
I'd take Sue Bird over Kate Moss any day.
So that's my first TMI Thursday. I'm sure my gf will be really pleased with me.
