Follower Friday: It's been a long time

1) @BettyNibbler: I'm not sure about Betty's background but judging from her tweets she seems to be a holocaust survivor. And I don't know if she's going for the whole so-depressing-it's-funny angle but her tweets are both irritated and despondent ... and pretty freaking hilarious.

To wit: "This Justin Bieber... Hitler was the last person I can remember with funny hair and millions of followers."

Or this: "We didn't have b12 in Warsaw, but you didn't see us complaining."

Mostly she tells people to watch their mouths but her tweets are usually entertaining.

2) @thevuvuzelahorn: If you've been watching the World Cup or even paying cursory attention to sports news and pop culture lately you probably know what the Vuvuzela is.

It's a plastic trumpet originally from South Africa and a common soccer noisemaker since the 70s'. It's the reason all the world cup games sound like they are enveloped in a swarm of giant, angry bees.

That's why the only thing this twitter handle tweets is: ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
for lines and lines. Not as annoying as the hundreds of actual Vuvuzela at the World Cup but a fitting digital homage ...

3) @YakimaGirlBlog: Like the name implies, this is a handle linked to a blog about Yakima ... by a girl. And it's a girly blog – about art and design and wine and shopping and stuff. It's very colorful and bright and she knows Yakima very well.

You should definitely check it out if you live in the Valley.

4) BBC_TopGear: I've never met anyone who didn't think Top Gear is too legit to quit. It's the best thing to come out of England since The Beatles – most def.

Suffice it to say, The Stig has the best job in the world ... And if you don't know who The Stig is, follow that link. Best. job. in. theworld.

Their twitter handle has cool links to extra stuff about cars n' stuff, of course.

5) nprobin: And speaking of people who have awesome jobs ... Robin Hilton is the producer of NPR's All Songs Considered, my absolute favorite podcast. Also, of the people on the show, he usually picks my favorite songs out of the myriad of genres presented during the show.

And this has actually led to me discover a lot about myself because typically he picks the more sensitive emo-boy songs that I didn't think I'd dig so much but I do, and I like it, like it, yes I do.

Anyway, Hilton's at the Bonneroo music festival this week and I'm sooo jealous but some of the clips they played on the podcast sounded pretty good. I have some new music to buy ...
